Pregnancy
Pregnant Woman Natural Remedies

Pregnancy is a beautiful and special experience, exclusively given to women. Despite its challenges, including various aches, pains, and inconveniences, the act of procreation and the profound opportunity to shape a new life with the potential to make a significant impact in the world is immensely rewarding and fulfilling. Sadly, in our society, women are often discouraged from embracing motherhood, which is a lamentable travesty. Acknowledging these challenges and recognizing the infinite blessings of pregnancy, we want to share ways you can enhance your experience and foster a healthy pregnancy.

As your baby is developing in the womb it requires several things. First and foremost, your baby requires high quality nutrition. This means avoiding all processed food, all dairy, all meat. Your diet should consist of  fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds, and nuts. You want to avoid vegetable oils. If you must use an oil, use cold pressed olive oil, which is the only vegetable oil that is not inflammatory. Hydrogenated oils are very harmful to a developing child. These trans fats not only kill cells but they have the potential to promote the production of damaged cells which leads to cancer. Corn, palm, and canola oil are inflammatory, damage the arterial walls, and create waste deposits in the body that lead to arthritic conditions and joint pain.

Eat lots of fruit, especially in the mornings. Consume good wholesome salads without processed salad dressings. A little tahini mixed with lemon juice and garlic drizzled over your salad tastes amazing and is healthy.

Cravings

Pregnant mothers are rarely informed that in the vast majority of cases, pregnancy cravings are related to nutritional needs for the baby or an imbalance in the body. It may surprise you to hear but pregnant mothers often have salt imbalance and actually crave salty foods because their bodies need the salt. Not table salt which is essentially bleach, but natural, real authentic salt. Because table salt is not a nutrient but actually a toxic element it is no wonder a pregnant mother would crave real salt. And due to the fact that most people do not consume real salt, they are already imbalanced. Now a pregnant mother has just increased her body’s fluid volume and requires that salt be balanced in her body. This produces strong cravings for salty foods.

It is important to understand that the craving for a specific food is not necessarily a need for that food itself, but rather for some nutrient in that food. If you have a craving for chocolate cake, don’t eat the cake, but instead have some fruit.

What you might actually be craving

Color code: Green is best source, Blue is a good source, and Purple is acceptable but may or may not address craving. All the foods below are healthy. Purple doesn’t mean they are bad just that they are much lower in the key nutrient needed to address. Beyond the table below, pregnant mothers should add flaxseed and chia seed to their diet, consuming at least a tablespoon a day. This provides the most healthy form of Omega 3 fatty acids for your baby.

Disclaimer: This list contains a general guideline that has been demonstrated to be true in many cases but does not mean every case is the same. For instance, the craving to chew ice does not always mean an iron deficiency nor does a craving of cheese always mean a lack of calcium. However, it is also important to understand that just because a nutritional panel says your levels are fine does not mean that is true. You can have high levels of calcium and be calcium deficient and also have low levels and be completely healthy. There are tribes that subsist on 2-3 plant foods and have very low calcium blood levels but have no broken bones, no osteoporosis, or any issues you would associate with low calcium. A nutritional panel often can give a good general idea of your nutrition but it should not be treated as 100% accurate.

The Why of Cravings

For those interested in the why we will spend some time here explaining the physiological reason behind cravings and what your body needs.

Chewing Ice

The craving to chew ice is an unusual one because it provides no nutritional value. Modern medicine calls it a “disorder,” but that label is misleading. The body does not create urges without cause. Chewing ice is often linked to iron deficiency, but the real connection is in what iron deficiency—or anemia—does to the body.

Anemics suffer from reduced brain function affecting alertness, processing speed and generally reduced neuropsychological function. A 2014 study conducted at the University of Pennsylvania investigated the cognitive effects of chewing ice on anemic and non-anemic individuals. The research, inspired by reports from patients who said chewing ice made them feel more awake, found a significant improvement. Anemic participants who did not consume ice had significantly slower and more inconsistent reaction times on a neuropsychological test, similar to individuals with moderate to severe attention deficit disorder. However, when these same anemic individuals chewed ice before the test, their performance improved dramatically to a level comparable to that of healthy participants. In contrast, chewing ice had no effect on the performance of healthy participants, who already had sufficient oxygen levels.[1]Pagophagia improves neuropsychological processing speed in iron-deficiency anemia

There are other reasons this craving may appear. Chewing ice cools the mouth and the body, which can ease increased temperature from a higher metabolic rate during pregnancy. That cooling also calms stress and anxiety, so a pregnant mother under pressure can develop the urge for this reason alone. Also, if dehydrated, ice offers relief and hydration. In cases of nausea or vomiting, chewing ice allows for slow, tolerable fluid intake without producing nausea. These causes are well-established, though this is not an exhaustive list.

Iron Needs in Pregnancy

Pregnancy increases blood volume by up to 50%, which means more iron is needed for hemoglobin production. The baby draws iron directly from the mother, draining her reserves—especially in women with heavy menstrual histories or poor diets. Pregnant mothers should generally assume they are both iron and calcium deficient and address it with herbs and nutrient-rich plants. Between 50–60% of iron-deficient patients crave ice. In almost every case, the craving disappears once iron levels are restored.

Morning Sickness

Between 70-80% of pregnant women experience morning sickness. If you search Google for the cause of morning sickness you will be told that is is unknown, just like every other condition. However, although they don’t seem to know the reason they are willing to conjecture that it is hormone changes or low blood sugar. In almost every case it is simply nutritional deficiency. The most common nutrient deficiencies are Iron and Calcium but can also be caused by lack of or imbalance of B vitamins and Folate. Most people consume a lot of Folic Acid through fortified foods, that the medical community will tell you is identical to Folate. This is unfortunately a lie. Folic Acid is actually toxic and leads to a lot of issues.

Formulas for Morning Sickness

1 part Peppermint (usually 2 tbsp.)
2 parts Wild Yam (4 tbsp.)

Boil in 2 quarts of water for 20 minutes then take 1 teaspoon of this formula 3-4 times a day.

When you rise in the morning drink a glass of warm water with a lemon or lime squeezed into it.

Calcium Tea

Calcium deficiency is often, but not always, associated with headaches and leg cramps. If the cause is Calcium deficiency the following tea is an excellent source for high quality organic calcium:

Equal parts of

Comfrey leaves (no it isn’t toxic, the drug cartel loves to lie to peddle their toxic drugs. Watch this video)
Oatstraw
Nettle

And half a part of Lobelia. If the mother is struggling to sleep give her the tea at night with chamomile in it. Peppermint can also be added. This tea should not be boiled.

Iron Tea – for Iron deficiency and anemia

Equal parts of

Yellow Dock
Nettle
Comfrey
Red Raspberry leaf

Boil only the Yellow Dock for 20 minutes, then turn the heat off and steep the rest of the herbs in the hot water, off of heat. It is best to consume the tea with citrus. You can even add a lemon or orange peels into the tea.

Prevention of Miscarriage

If the mother is at risk for or concerned with miscarriage she should first eliminate as far as possible stress from her life and drink 1-2 cups a day of the following tea:

4 tbsp. of  Squawvine
2 tbsp. of Squawweed
2 tbsp. of Black haw
2 tbsp. of Star Root
2 tbsp. of Beth Root

Mix with 2 quarts of water, boil until only 1 quart is left.

Blessings From Pregnancy

The world now largely holds a deplorable view of pregnancy at this time. It is seen as a inconvenience to career and happiness to the point that abortion is heralded as a great “right” of pregnant mothers. This view is new however and for the majority of humanity pregnancy has been seen as a blessing. The Bible repeatedly declares this fact

Psalm 127:3

Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

This verse speaks of children as a heritage. The word heritage means an inheritance. But children aren’t just an inheritance, the verse says they are a reward from God to the mother. This fact has now been proven by science.

Several studies from the Mount Sinai research center have shown some incredible benefits for the mother from her baby during pregnancy. For instance, if a mother is having a heart attack mid pregnancy, fetal stem cells travel to the mother’s injured heart and graft on to the damaged tissue, transforming into heart cells. They also found that half of women with peripartum cardiomyopathy saw their condition completely spontaneously recover in the months following pregnancy. Children themselves are a reward, an inheritance, but beyond that the Lord has provided a physical health benefit to the mother for the inconvenience and pain she must suffer in child-bearing.

But the benefit does not end with heart attacks. Pregnancy confers a medicinal benefit for almost all disease including cancers.
